  Blue Throated Macaws is generally a friendly, outgoing, and cuddly companion. In some respects, their personalities are much like cockatoos. When hand-fed as babies and properly tamed, Blue Throated Macaws tend to form extremely strong bonds with their owners that last a lifetime. They are also known to be one of the most affectionate parrot species and are sometimes called ‘velcro’ birds.

  As with any macaw, the decision to add one to your family should not be taken lightly. They are large birds that require large enclosures, a well-rounded diet, and lots and lots of toys. Ideally, the minimum cage size for this size bird is 42″x32″x75″ with a 1″ bar spacing. A Blue Throated Macaw can make an excellent family companion.
